Honda sh300i fuel pump

Hi all, please can someone help me with my fuel pump problem on my Honda Sh300 I? The machine kept starting and stopping when I was out for a ride recently, I checked when I got home and discovered it wasn't pumping fuel, I replaced the fuel pump but still no joy, the pump switches on for a couple of seconds then stops which I blelieve is prime mode but doesn't pump petrol when trying the starter motor. I wired the pump up direct battery power in due course with a remote fuel supply but it is not pumping btw that was with both pumps ! Any ideas Tia.

I understand that the fuel pressure regulator is inside the pump so if there is some blockage in the connection to the injector the pump would probably stay off. Obviously if you have checked the entire connection end to end the only other explanation would be the injector not opening but with an open pipe which is not automatically shut off by the quick connector fuel would gush out very quickly ( be careful! ). You can usually feel whether the line to the injector is pressurised if you hold it in a slightly kinked position and this should be noticeable as the pump buzzes when you first switch on.

You may have been unlucky and got two faulty pumps but a blocked filter, line, or injector could also be responsible.
