Howdy-do from Morecambe...

Post by Flyingpanman »

My real name is Paul and yesterday I added a 2006 FJS600 A6 to my collection of wheels. I have a Honda ST1100 Pan European and also Kawasaki KLV 1000. (The KLV1000 is a Suzuki V-Strom 1000 by another name).

I've got knee problems and while the KLV 1000 is a tall adventure style bike that is easy going on my knee, the ST1100 being lower is painful after an hour in traffic. The Silver Wing is comfy, but I'm 6'3" and 250lbs. The "butt rest" will have to be removed and the seat raised an inch or so with some padding where the butt rest brackets were. I know kits are available to do this and I'll probably get an Airflow adjustable screen as I'm too tall for the OEM.

Now the REAL agony starts - After spending many hours and much money doing my own extensive rebuild on my beloved ST1100, it has to be sold. If anyone knows anyone who might be interested, part of my ST1100 rebuild and the bike in action can be seen (and my other bikes) on my YouTube channel. Just enter my username on this forum in the YouTube search box and you'll get it.

Anyway, I've been buzzing around on the S'wing today and feel happy with my choice over a used Burgervan 650 or 400. I felt the overly complex CVT/transmission on the 650 was a problem on older machines, and the 400 was a little bit slow for my liking. The BMW's seem good, but too pricey for me. However, I'm looking forward to someday test riding the first 1,000cc. stepthrough "Adventure Scooter"!

Give me a shout if you're in my neck of the woods as I'm retired and often go for a bimble on a weekday.

Welcome

On the retired front you'll fit right in bouncing.gif and as for the knees issue I'm in the same boat.

Glad you like the Silver wing several contented owners here and as for the pan 1100 strangely enough I was looking at one in a dealers today with only 21K on the clock from new and remembering my commuter days on one
