Welcome! I don't think I have ever seen an X10. But I saw an X9 this morning. First one I have seen for a fair while.

Oh no, sorry, the light is on permanently then and the bike rides as normal, no engine cutting

So if you ignore bullet point 1 of the calibration procedure point 2 works. So can you reach points 3 and 4 to get the warning light flashing slowly? I thought i had replied, but apparently didnt hit send!
But if i turn iff the asr it goes to a solid on light, not fladhing anymore, and then engine has full power again too

Iv tried the recalibration procedure, it doesnt do anything, the scoot doesnt seem to get past its own calibration phase
So its ignition on, both lights flashing
Pull away get to about 5 mph and all power cuts (assume traction control cutting power) lights still flashing, they wont stop flashing so it wont let me run the calibration,
Iv tried calibrating it with the asr button pressed so i get full power but that just keeps the asr light on solid and the abs light flashing but rides normally
Am i missing something in the calibration? Or is it fiddly and just need to keep at it a few times?

So iv just been and tried the recalibration one more time

Run up a nice straight road, and then after a while the asr light flashes slightly faster and cuts all the power again, key off and on and no different, still have flashing lights and no power,
Its like it wont do its self diagnostic on stsrt up, but also like it thinks the wheel is always slipping so it engaging the traction control, i can feel the brakes pulsing but dont know if they would to see if the abs is active constantly too
Its a real head scratcher!

If you have tried calibration at least a couple of times without success the next easy step is to check the sensor rings on each wheel. They can sometimes get bent during wheel remove or tyre changing. They must be completely flat and the distance between the pick ups and the ring should be exactly to specification. The sensors themselves have been known to fail or become unreliable, sometimes just through wiring damage or connector damage. If the ABS is working normally this is not the most likely cause but it is the easiest to check.
Beyond this ASR is controlled via the "Injection Control Unit" and I note that if this is changed or replaced the ASR will not be active until initialized using Piaggio's diagnostic tool.

Well after a ride today i now have an abs light on permanently and now have no.speedo, so it looks like either the fault is developing into something or more things are going wrong! Ill get it on a diagnostic soon and see what it throws up, hopefully itll show a bad sensor .........
I did check the front ring and the gap to the sensor, but not the rear as its a bit trickier to access, ill get these done soon too though

**SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM. **
Hi i come across your problem and decided to sign up to hopefully help to resolve your problem.
Ive owned an X10 for a while. and i had this frustrating problem with the ABS/ASR which ive spent a few hundred £ on diagnostics at independent and main dealers and many months riding without a speedo/ABS - which the main Piaggio dealers did not do a full and proper diagnostics. I was going to replace the ABS unit which was hefty cost but thankfully another diagnostics was done whilst i had my ABS ring replaced ( after replacing rear sensor ) to discover it was the front ABS sensor.
- your ABS is not working hence when you hold down keep the ABS light static your bike rides fine ( ABS system off ) and does not sputter or lose Power leaving you with only 3k revs Max - this is a safety feature in the system preventing you from riding with ABS active but malfunctioning.
your Front ABS sensor is likely the culprit, both the back and front ABS sensors are the exact same part code - i changed the rear sensor on mine and it worked for a 2 minutes ride and went back to square one again - it should have been the front sensor diagnosed as the fault by the dealers so i ended up changing the ABS ring etc. ( could have been both sensors going bad at the same time ? what's the chances of that )
The front sensor is a bit of a nightmare to get to with no real clear instructions online -
Get the front sensor replaced by the main dealer rather than an independent who likely not done such a job and start taking it apart more than needed to find the connector end of the sensor - not even the X10 workshop manual has this info - it will self calibrate automatically without having to do the manual calibration ( they are self learning ) and it should resolve your issue.
